What kind of jobs can you find when you have and English degree with a concentration in film and media studies. Well, my friend there are many jobs you can get. Here are 5 jobs you can get with an English degree with a concentration in film and media studies.
1) Assistant Professor of Film/Media studies
Teaching is probably one of the first jobs people think of coming. The degree level required for teaching in college is a master’s or above so you while this comes from Appalachian State University. Glassdoor said that and Assistant professor can make between $88k to $164k annually in the United States. Most jobs in being a professor come with full benefits.
2) Manager, Archives Collection
This is a job was found on Warner Bros. Discovery job openings. The position requires 5 or more years of experience with work in a lot of management and inventory systems, Warner Bros. also expects you to be able to carry 25 or more pounds, be flexible, and have good skills in communication. The job pays about $59k to $110k annually with full benefits.
3) Script Writer
Scriptwriters are kind of the original creative flow for any film or television show. They are usually the people who tell the story first long before it ever goes on screen. On average most scriptwriters get paid about $59k annually with the highest being around $70k annually. Most scriptwriters require a bachelor’s degree. This position can come with benefits.
4) Movie Reviewer/Film critic
Writing about films is something you can do outside of college. On average a critic can make $53k annually with the higher end being $99k annually according to ZipRecruiter. This job allows you to work freelance or with a company writing and editing articles. Most of these jobs require you to keep up with trends, knowledge of broadcasting, and being able to work in a fast-paced environment. If you are freelance don’t expect any benefits if you are in a company, you should expect to get benefits.
5) Film Director
Anyone can be a filmmaker if you understand the parts that go into a film which is why being a film director is perfect for this list. The average annual salary for a director is on average $117k with the highest being $196k this comes from ZipRecruiter. This is a position where a bachelor’s or a master’s degree will be what you want. This job can come with benefits.
